About DCISM

On 29 May 2002, the Danish Parliament passed an Act on the establishment of a Danish Centre for International Studies and Human Rights, DCISM.

DCISM was established with the aim of strengthening research, analysis, and information activities in Denmark concerning international affairs, i.e. the fields of foreign, security, and development policy; conflict; holocaust; genocide and political mass murders; and human rights in Denmark and abroad.

The Centre, established as of January 2003, consists of two independent institutes:

1. DIIS - Danish Institute for International Studies, incorporating the activities of the former Danish Institute of International Affairs, DUPI; Centre for Development Research, CDR; Copenhagen Peace Research Institute, COPRI; and a special section for the activities at Danish Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, DCHF.

2. DIHR - Danish Institute for Human Rights, incorporating the activities of the former Danish Centre for Human Rights, DCHR and parts of the Board for Ethnic Equality, NEL.

Ambassador Ole Lønsmann Poulsen is Head of the Board of DCISM.
The institution's Library and Administration are located in DCISM, whereas research, analyses and other activities are located in the two institutes.
